This Diploma in Childcare and Nannying Level 5 equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to work effectively in early years settings and provide outstanding care. By completing this course, learners will understand child development, safeguarding, nutrition, and inclusive practices while learning to build strong relationships with children and families. In the UK, nursery nurses and child carers typically earn around £10–£13 per hour or £20,000–£27,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
This comprehensive course begins with Module 1: Introduction to Nursery Nurse, giving an essential foundation for childcare roles. Module 2 explores the growth and development of children, while Module 3 focuses on attachment and relationship building. Module 4 examines factors influencing development, and Module 5 teaches observation and assessment techniques in early years settings. Module 6 covers curriculum planning and early learning strategies. Learners then study Module 7 safeguarding and protection, and Module 8 on health and safety. Module 9 teaches nutrition and healthy eating for children. Module 10 emphasizes play and learning, Module 11 focuses on supporting children with special needs, and Module 12 guides learners on working in partnership with parents and carers.
In module one, we’ll learn about the duties of a nursery nurse and what qualities make a good nursery nurse.
Module two explain the growth and development process of children. It discusses the principles and stages of development and different types of development.
Module three discusses the impact of attachment on relationship building in childhood. Here, we’ll learn about different theories related to this, such as Bowlby’s Attachment Theory, Evolutionary Theory, etc.
In this module, we’ll explore the different factors that influence development in childhood. We’ll learn about the role of parenting style and the impact of exposure to family problems on children’s development.
In module five, we’ll learn about how to observe and assess a child’s development in the early years.
In module six, we’ll broaden our understanding of The Early Childhood Curriculum Frameworks in UK Countries. Also, we’ll learn about planning for children’s learning and creating an ideal learning environment.
In this module, we’ll learn about physical abuse and injuries, different types of neglect and how to deal with these issues to safeguard the children.
In module eight, we’ll learn about the health and safety needs for children. We’ll learn about the importance of personal hygiene in childhood, different accidents and hazards in home ans school, and how to avoid these to protect children.
Module nine explains the needs for nutrition and healthy food in children’s development. Here, we’ll learn about the main food groups for setting a balanced diet for children.
In module ten, we’ll understand the impact of play and recreation on children’s learning and the overall development process. Also, we’ll discuss about creativity development in childhood.
In this module, we’ll understand what it means by special needs. We’ll understand different disabilities and disorders in children and how to deal with them. Also, we’ll learn about SEN in the early years.
In this final module, we’ll understand how to work with parents and carers and take part in children’s development and raising. We’ll learn about the scopes and challenges in working with parents.
