Clinical Psychology Diploma Course Overview

In module one, we will deepen our understanding of mental health, taking a look at the factors that contribute toward good mental health, the early signs of mental health issues,  and mental health statistics in the UK.

In module two, we will explore different perspectives in psychology, taking a look at person-centred, behaviourist and cognitive approaches, as well as the steps to conducting psychological research.

In module three, we will gain an in-depth understanding of applied social psychology and social cognition, providing both a practical and theoretical understanding. 

In module four, we will broaden our knowledge of perception, remembering, language,  forgetting, thinking and attitudes, exploring topics such as problem-solving and artificial intelligence. 

In module five, we will develop our knowledge of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, conduct disorder, and mental retardation, including their signs and symptoms. 

In module six, we will explore various stress and anxiety disorders, from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to panic disorder and generalised anxiety disorder (GAD). It includes practical information on their symptoms and impact on mental health.

In module seven, we will develop our knowledge of schizophrenia disorders and their key characteristics. It covers topics such as hallucinations, delusion, and psychosis, through the guidance of case studies and audio-visual training.

In module eight, we will explore the different types of personality disorders such as antisocial personality disorder and obsessive-compulsive personality disorder, providing in-depth knowledge of their characteristics and treatment.

In module nine, we will learn about mood disorders such as bipolar disorder, depression and major depressive disorder (MDD), taking an in-depth look at their key symptoms and characteristics.

In module ten, we will familiarise with some common eating and sleeping disorders, exploring their characteristics, symptoms and treatment. 

In module eleven, we will deepen our understanding of the self-harm cycle, exploring the reasons why people self-harm. It also provides practical information on support services and treatments, suicide, self-care and risk factors.

In this final module, we will learn all about the treatment of different mental illnesses and the various forms of therapy, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), talking therapy and counselling.
