The Sports First Aid Course is designed to help learners understand how to respond quickly and effectively to injuries and medical emergencies that can occur during sports and physical activities. In Canada’s active sports environment—ranging from school athletics to community clubs and professional training settings—first aid knowledge is essential for ensuring player safety and reducing the risk of complications from injuries.
This course is suitable for beginners, coaches, fitness trainers, sports volunteers, and individuals involved in physical education or recreational activities. Learners will gain knowledge of injury assessment, emergency response priorities, and management of both minor and major sports-related injuries. It also covers environmental and medical emergencies that may occur during outdoor or indoor sporting events.
With flexible online learning, participants can study at their own pace from anywhere in Canada. Upon completion, learners receive a recognised certificate that supports roles in sports coaching, fitness, and community sports safety.

Learners will explore frequent sports injuries such as sprains, strains, bruises, and minor fractures. The module explains how to recognise and manage these conditions effectively.
This module examines serious injuries such as fractures, head injuries, and spinal injuries. It also explains when urgent medical attention is required.
This module focuses on injuries caused by environmental conditions such as heat exhaustion, dehydration, cold exposure, and weather-related risks during sports activities.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certification in Canada, developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC), trains individuals to provide initial support to someone experiencing mental health decline or crisis. The 12-hour, nationally recognized course covers stigma, disorders (anxiety, substance use, mood, psychosis), and crisis intervention (ALGEE framework).

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a 2 day in-depth mental health awareness course, approved by the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH). On completion of this training, candidates are certified as ‘Mental Health First Aiders’
This two-day course equips individuals with the knowledge and confidence to recognise signs of mental ill-health and provide initial support. Mental Health First Aiders play a vital role in creating a workplace culture that promotes wellbeing and reduces stigma.
You can also complete a two-year MSW at some schools without a BSW with an honour degree (typically Social Science, but not required). PsyD (Doctorate of Psychology): Following a scientist-practitioner model, this degree tends to have a greater emphasis on training students to become clinicians/practitioners.
