The goal is to protect the health, wellbeing, and human rights of vulnerable adults. It enables participants to identify signs of abuse—including physical, emotional, sexual, and financial abuse or neglect—and understand how to take appropriate action.
A vulnerable adult is generally defined as any person 18 years or older who may be unable to care for themselves or protect themselves against significant harm or exploitation due to a mental health issue, disability, frailty, or illness.
Refresher training is recommended at least every two years to maintain up-to-date knowledge.
