The Certificate in Bereavement and Grief Counselling Level 3 will equip you with the knowledge, empathy, and professional techniques to guide people through grief and emotional pain.
In the UK, Bereavement Counsellors earn an average of £16–£20 per hour, with an annual salary ranging from £30,000 to £40,000, depending on experience and work setting.
This course begins with Module 01: Introduction, which gives an overview of bereavement counselling and its importance in emotional well-being.
Module 02: Introduction to Grief & Bereavement explains the stages and psychological impact of grief.
Module 03: Attitudes Towards ‘Death’ and ‘Dying’ explores cultural and personal beliefs that shape how individuals face loss.
In Module 04: What Happens When We Die, learners gain insight into spiritual, physical, and emotional aspects of death.
Module 05: Depression Related to Grief and Bereavement focuses on understanding emotional disorders linked to loss.
Finally, Module 06: Counselling Process and Methods provides practical strategies, therapeutic approaches, and communication techniques for effective bereavement counselling.
In module one, we will get to know our course instructor and their professional background. This introductory module will also outline the key topics that will be discussed in the course.
In module two, we will deepen our understanding of the role of the bereavement counsellor and the core skills in counselling. It also covers different approaches in counselling and counselling theory.
In module three, we will explore the attitudes to death and dying in both adults and children, taking a look at religious and spiritual attitudes towards death.
In module four, we will learn about the patterns and stages of grief, as well as the process of dying, taking a look at the different ways grief affects adults and children.
In module five, we will explore the ways that depression is related to grief and bereavement, with an overview of the different types of depression. It also discusses the diagnoses and treatments of depression.
In module six, we will learn how many individuals suffering from grief struggle with a loss of their sense of self. It includes strategies and tips for counselling clients on how to accept death and let go.
